Increase your energy independence by producing your own clean, green power.
Always know what you’ll pay for your solar energy – no surprises.
During a power outage, your home solar system will not work unless you have a battery.4
Power your home with renewable solar energy from your battery, even when the sun is down.5.
During a power outage, a solar-only system will automatically turn off. If you have a solar + storage system and the power goes out, your most needed appliances and lights can be powered by your solar + battery system.4
If you live in a market with time of use (TOU) rates, your battery will be automatically configured to protect you from peak rates and maximize your net metering credits.
We only install industry-leading, proven technology like Generac PWRcell™ and Tesla Powerwall.
We developed a smart tool for you to determine how long the battery will last during a power outage based on what you want to power in your home.
1. During the day, solar panels turn sun rays into energy.
2. The solar energy travels through your inverter to make the energy usable for your home.
3. Your solar energy powers your home.
4. Excess solar energy will charge your battery or be sent to your utility for net metering, if eligible. Your battery will be charged before any solar energy goes to your utility.
Your nighttime power will depend on your battery configuration. You’ll likely be using a combination of battery energy and grid electricity.

2. System monitoring and production guarantee are not available in all markets. 3. You may be eligible for a federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) with the purchase of a solar system. To receive the full federal tax credit, you must have federal income tax liability at least equal to the value of the tax credit. Additional tax credits may also be available for homeowners in certain states and territories. Sunnova makes no guarantees regarding customer eligibility for tax benefits. Sunnova does not provide tax advice. Contact your personal tax advisor for eligibility requirements.
4. The amount of power available from the battery during a power outage is limited, depending on the loads connected, customer usage and battery configuration (i.e. batteries in certain areas may be set up to provide you with the best economic benefit, which may affect the amount of back-up power available). Solar systems and/or batteries may require repairs after weather events and such repairs may be delayed due to forces outside of our control. No assurances can be given that the solar system or the battery will always work. You should never rely upon either of these to power life support or other medical devices.
5. Applicable to all battery configuration except backup power.
